A very popular setup is the projector and screen combination. Projectors are typically mounted in the ceiling, with the screen mounted on a wall or from the ceiling. We install well over 200 manual screens and probably just as many electric screens each year.

Projector/Screen System Options

  • Recessed Screens - Manual or Electric
  • Projector Lift (hides projector)
  • Projector/Screen Control through a Wall Plate
  • Tabletop Control Plates or Touch Panels

For classrooms, SMART Board Interactive Whiteboards can be used, typically in conjunction with a wall plate (an interface), instead of a projection screen (see our SMART Board page for details).

Expanded Systems Capabilities

Adding equipment racks expand the capabilities of an A/V room.

Racks are basically towers of various equipment all tied together to produce a coherent audio and/or video system. With a single remote, or a couple button presses, you can control a variety of equipment (projectors, LCDs, plasma televisions, screens, mics and speakers).

Bowdoin CollegeTypical components found in racks: pre-amps and amplifiers, videoconferencing units, video switchers, power strips, UPS power supplies and conditioning units, touch panels, turntables, VCR/DVD/MP3 players and recorders, cassette players, mixers and signal converters.

There's almost no limit as to what can be placed in a rack. And a rack's height is determined by the number of components being put in it. It's during the project's design phase that we determine what type of rack should be used.

Types of racks range from metal to wood and all offer different levels of security (so nobody walks off with your DVD player).
